Healthcare Executives are professionals who are similar to every day CEOs and CFOs of private corporations. In essence, they are responsible for restructuring and ensuring that health care corporation maintain efficiency, meet budgetary constraints are exceed expectations. They typically handle federal funding and maximize corporation revenues. Healthcare Executives work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, long and short term care facilities, public health departments, and home health agencies. Their salaries range from $70,000 to over $250,000 year depending on the hired health care corporation and their experience level. The higher salaries are typically for professionals with advanced degrees and those that have many years of experience whereas the lower salaries are those without advanced degrees.

Educational Background

You’ll need at least a Bachelor’s degree and possibly a Master’s Degree and over 5 years of experience in the health care industry. You’ll also need to take continuing education courses in order to stay on top of this competitive field.

  • Carefully evaluate budgets and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Communicate with top level health care professionals to make important financial decisions which could ultimately effect the entire organization.
  • Consider important long and short term goals when making decision.
  • Conduct meetings and other presentations in order to support health care organization’s overall vision and plan
  • Ensure that hospitals provide quality health care services while maintaining budgetary constraints.
